Cannot Connect to NTP Server
This is a common error message that we receive a lot of calls on.
A NTP server is a network time protocol server. Think of it as a master time clock. Your projector and/or server attempts to connect to this master time clock on a regular basis (varies by model) to keep its local time clock (RTC) in sync. Connection to the NTP server is not mandatory and your machine will operate fine without it. We do like to keep the NTP server active as it will keep all clocks set correctly and in sync.
In some systems the projection system is pointed at a local NTP server such as a TMS system or some other NTP server on-site. In other cases the NTP client in your system may be directed to a NOC or even a public NTP server.
On the Christie projector, the NTP settings are located under MENU->ADMINISTRATOR SETUP-?TIME SETUP
In this venue the NTP client pings the NTP server, which is local within the building and located at 192.168.1.20 every six minutes.
We have an updated list of public
NTP servers in our knowledge base. You may also try this link:
If you are unable to successfully connect to a NTP server you can turn off the ENABLE NTP setting.
