GDC TMS - Database not found

GDC TMS - Database not found

The GDC TMS platform is not a program but rather a suite of independent programs that are controlled by the GDC TMS interface.  The screens that are visible to the end-user are essentially a remote control for the subservient programs running in the background that actually do the work.  In the case of the DATABASE NOT FOUND error, this usually indicates that the POSTGRES SQL server that runs the actual database of content invisibly in the background has stopped running for some, unknown, reason.  The simplest solution is to shutdown all open programs and reboot the TMS computer.

One of the common reasons that we find problems like this is that the Windows computer that the system resides on is in mid-update.  Some versions of Windows 7 and all versions of Windows 10 or 11 will update regardless of your desires.  The dreaded little yellow or red dot in the taskbar indicates that an update needs to finish its installation.  Ignoring this alert may result in erratic operation of the TMS system, including the problem above.

While there is a risk that introducing a Windows update to an other stable platform may cause problems, our experience has shown that a lot of unusual problems occur when the Windows computer is in a partially updated state.
