GDC TMS not transferring content or schedules - not allowing remote content deletion (on or after 12/13/24)

On the morning of December 13th (a/k/a "Friday the 13th) we became aware of a problem that affects many of the GDC TMS-2000 systems in the field.  The most common complaint was that content, KDM's and schedules were not transferring automatically or manually through the TMS.  Items that were set for transfer would be in a perpetual state of "queuing".

We have not confirmed the cause of this issue as either a problem caused by a Windows update or by a deficiency in the program.  There is, however, a fix for this issue.  If the server is updated to the most recent build of its software, currently TMS-GDC-4.3.14721.12131913 as of this writing, normal operation resumes.

It is not as simple as just running the update.  The update, if run without proper preparation, will cause the native Windows Defender/AntiVirus programs to prevent the proper installation.  Prior to installing the new version, the Windows Real Time Protection must be turned OFF for the duration of the installation.  Failure to do so will corrupt the installation.  Please note that turning this off is temporary.  Windows will automatically reactive it in several minutes so the installation of the update should not be delayed.

GDC also advises that the following items be "whitelisted" in your firewall:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Postgres
C:\Program Files (x86)\Filezilla Server
C:\Program Files (x86)\GDC
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\TMS
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\TMSConnect

There have been some instances reported where the installation outlined above does not work.  In those cases it is necessary to go into Windows Virus and Threat Protection and restore the elements of the TMS that have been quarantined after the installation.

Please be advised that GDC TMS systems exist under two different licenses.  Older TMS systems were issued with a perpetual license but would not facilitate software updates unless a current software subscription was in place.  Newer (as in the last 4 years) TMS systems were sold with a subscription based license that requires a valid subscription to operate.  In either case, the appropriate current subscription must be in place to obtain the updated version.

For safety and security reasons, explicit step by step instructions are not provided here.  The update and steps described should only be attempted by persons with proper training in these areas.

This problem is still being researched and additional instructions and information will be added to this document as it becomes available.  Please assist us in keeping this document up to date by emailing your experiences with this issue to brian@totalcinemasolutions.com.
